Under Construction

Aspen Gold

Currently under construction, this property is extends over six consecutive lots in the heart of historic Telluride, Colorado.  Though its creation maintains the historic nature and character of the towns mining heritage, and reflects time-honored historic proportions – it is anything but traditional.  It is more of a traditional look with a glimpse of surprise.

The floor plan revolves around the kitchen as the center focal point of the house, with the remaining features and rooms as spokes in varying directions.  To help minimize the large lot size and the mass of the structure, the house slopes from north to south, while capturing the expansive aspen views of Ingram Falls, Bear Creek Valley, and Telluride’s ski resort.

Focused on the sustainability of the house, the architect and owners have utilized many tools and technologies to minimize the maintenance of the property – the least of which includes:  solar panels tied into the town’s grid, sprayed foam insulation with no off-gassing, triple paned windows, and reclaimed barn siding.
